intro

Fragile inde rock that recollects the Walker Brothers and both Jeff and Tim Buckley from new Brighton three piece Veldt

Veldt are a Brighton three piece, consisting of Lloyd Wadey, James Waterland and Mike Alexander. 'Walking in Silence' which features here twice, once as a radio edit, has a lush air about it that recalls the Walker Brothers and a vocal that is so fragile that it recollects both of the Buckleys, father and son. Musically it is clever and elegant without being smug at all.It will appeal to fans of classic 60's soundscape balladeers or, to bring things up to date, fans of Radiohead. 'Play for Today' is eerie, with a moog like synth and Portishead like guitar patterns, with a vocal from Lloyd Wadey that is reminiscent of Thom Yorke. A sad violin creeps in which will melt even the hardest of hearts. The whole track has an air of arthouse cinema about it. The other version of 'Walking in Silence' is a single edit. It is longer and adds more strings to it. The sleeve looks very retro and very 70's, which is a good sign of its contents.
