intro
Unusual electronic fuzz on blues and rock 'n' roll label from We are Wolves, who sound like a lo-fi version of Primal Scream
This is far from a typical release for the Fat Possum label – neither straight up blues or rock and roll 'Non Stop' is an electronic fuzz fest. There are elements of the label’s more typical releases here but We Are Wolves here come on like a lo-fi version of Primal Scream’s 'Exterminator'. Despite the more electronic parts - this is really what rock albums should be like. No discernible message, no sing-a-long power chorus, just a short sharp kick to your ears. Some of the tracks are straight up guitar noise, others veer into heavy beats. Some are instrumental tunes. Some are almost instrumental tunes. Others have the vocals so fried that they might as well be. And while none could be described as sophisticated the energy and purpose is undeniable. Stand out tracks range from ‘Vosotnros, Monstruos’ – with insistent, repetitive beats perfect for driving your neighbours mad at two in the morning – to ‘T.R.O.U.B.L.E.’ – the sort of stamp-along anthem most of today’s crop of bands wish they could write. Frankly, this is great.
