Re-release of Danish psychobilly band from hell Nekromantix's rip-roaring 1994 classic 'Brought Back to Life'
I've got to write this on the subject of necrophilia ; Who said romance was dead (holds head in shame at awful pun)? Imagine if the Stray Cats, the Cramps and the Misfits had joined in a fiendish plan to create a Frankenstein’s monster of a band in a mad scientist’s lab in the deep, dark depths of er, Denmark. The result would be Nekromantix, the psychobilly band from hell. Although 'Brought Back to Life' is a re-issue, and, was originally recorded in 1994, it’s still as fresh as a recently buried corpse (again with the necrophilia pun). Opening track, 'Bloody Holiday', is a rip roaring rampaging rock 'n' or roll extravaganza with its staccato stand up bass and "woooooo" backing vocals, making it the perfect music to go on... well... holiday. The lyrics are very tongue in cheek as might be expected. The track 'Driller Killer', the story of a murderous dentist, adds great effect, conjuring up your worst nightmare with the sound of a blunt drill at the end of it. Tracks, 'Reincarnated Love', 'Nekrofelia' and 'Brought Back to Life', as their name suggests, make me wonder what these crazy Danes do in their spare time ( probably like something cold and stiff I suspect. There you go, three in row) This is a classic album. It’s 'armless and dead fun (number 4).
