intro
Controversial new single from London-based act the Towers of Lopndon, who, despite looking like Motley Crue, have more in common with Blondie and the Ramones
This is the debut 7 inch and CDS from this new London-based group who have already created for themselves much hostility and derision from the NME. Both formats have a different B side. The 7 inch comes in a fine white vinyl and is fully signed in silver pen. Despite the band looking like Motley Crue with all its members having hair down to their shoulders, 'On a Noose' is very punky in its sound. It recalls early Blondie with its thrashy sound, or a slightly slowed down version of the Stooges or the Ramones. The vocals are shouted but it is a song that develops well and in the end the instrumentation is good enough to make it thoroughly convincing. Towards the end it sounds like a combination between Julian Cope during his 'Spacehopper' era and Coventry's Birdland. The B side, 'All You Want Me For' , is very loud and more ballsy than the A side. It is reminiscent in its style of the Sex Pistols. It is enjoyable enough, but without being original in any way. Its guitar solo part the way through sounds like the Darkness, but is delivered in a more update manner.
