intro

Middle-of-the-road sixth album from German gothic rockers Lacrimas Profundere who bear a slight resemblance to the Sisters of Mercy

Lacrimas Profundere hail from Bavaria in southern Germany and are better known for their brand of gothic rock on Mainland Europe. 'Ave End' is the sixth album from this band who have been around since 1995. This album was produced in Finland, and there have been comparisons in the German press with HIM, which are unfounded. Vocalist Christopher Schmidt has the disinterested vocal style perfected by Andrew Eldritch without the depth, rather than that of Ville Valo. 'One Hope's Evening', the first track, has a melodic style, which is somewhat reminiscent of the Evanessance hit , 'Bring Me to Life', with its crashing guitar chords, keyboards on the chorus and the echo on the vocals. The title track, the second on the album, puts me in mind of the Sisters of Mercy, and is without doubt the strongest track - but none of the tracks stood out enough in their own right to make an impression. It's not going to be played in the clubs, but if you're into goth-rock, it's great for sitting around the fire on a winter's night with a few mates, having a drink and a chat. It's fine to put on in the background.
