intro

Diverse "spacey" post rock from little known Bristol group, which will "appeal to Cocteau Twins and old time 4AD fans"

Moqsha are a Bristol secret. Along with Mooz, they are one of the best local bands, but noone from outside Bristol knows anything about them. It has taken the band five years to produce their first album and they have gone through three name changes since I first saw them back in '98. Originally they were Moksha Sound Concepts and then just Moksha and now they areMoksha. One thing that has remained is Victoria's quality song writing. Having said that though, this is a bit more commercial in its delivery than I would have liked to seen. It does grow on you though the more that you listen to it. Victoria's vocals are somewhere between Janis Joplin, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Debbie Harry. The music is spacey with deep grooves, and is very well thought out. It is not a pop sounding album. It will appeal to Cocteau Twins and old time 4AD fans. At other times it is baggy, and at other times it is bluesy. A great band ! It is well worth checking out these guys.
