intro
Dark and uncompromising punk rock from highly regarded London band, Five Hundred and Crave
'Uncomfortable' is the third album by Five Hundred and Crave. who are seen in many quarters to be one of the most promising bands on punk rock scene. Unfortunately, despite being scheduled to play support to Alice Cooper on his forthcoming tour, the band have just recently decided to take an indefinite “hiatus”. The first track, 'King Without a Crown' has a sombre and self-conscious backdrop. Captivating vocals fight quite efficiently for space inside the dense sound. 'Only' in contrast wipes a lot of this initial roughness away. Troy Perlic. the lead singer’s voice, is slightly echoing, but is still grounded firmly with the music. "It's a sad day! Such a such a such a sad day" Troy sustains on 'Sad Day' against an edgy bass guitar sound, which is also loaded with heavy drum beats. As the album proceeds the music seems to become more melodic. 'Chief' sounds almost light compared to the first track. Bass guitars smoothly start off the song, which eventually becomes blurred in places with feedback. 'Sense Of Humour', however, closes the album on the same black note as it started. At the very end of the album you hear Troy’s vocals shouting with anger against the darkness which the rest of the band have created in the music . As a bonus 'Sense Of Humour' is also featured on video. ‘Uncomfortable’ undoubtedly lives up to its namesake, and, offering little hope, is often a very bleak offering, but fans of the punk genre in the right frame of mind or who like their music to have some thought behind it will find it essential listening.
