intro
Flawed but sometimes excellent debut EP from London-based folk pop artist, Jo Bartlett
One of England's finest voices returns with a modest EP, which is available on download only. The title track is somewhat flat and twee but 'Measure of the Storm' brings about a startling change due to some twang and its challenging melody. Jo Bartlett's folk pop and lovely voice need a sharper edge, but like so much pop music today has narratives rather than melodies. 'Rising to the Bait' begins rather mediocrely yet becomes almost exciting towards the end. 'Suitable Drama' delivers as promised, with whirling strings and waltzing rushes. Half unremarkable, half great.
