Marie Hazelwood takes photographs of Merseybeat-influenced band the Hummingbirds at a show at the O2 Academy in Liverpool

The Hummingbirds are a six-piece ensemble from Liverpool whose music has been heavily inspired by the music of the 50’s and 60’s of the Merseybeat era. The Hummingbirds, which consists of Jay Davies (vocals/guitar), Matty Brougham (rhythm guitar), Mic Kountis (guitar/backing vocals), Richard Smith (drums/backing vocals), Ryan Lewis (bass) and Graham Heedern (keyboards), have drawn a strong local following with their upbeat tunes, which combine strong melodies with harmonies. They have just released their first EP, ‘The Hummingbirds’, on both CD and limited edition vinyl, and will be spending most of March and April promoting it and touring it. These photographs were taken by Marie Hazelwood at a gig on the 22nd December supporting Cast at the O2 Academy in Liverpool.
