intro
Attention-grabbing and psychedelic-influenced instrumental rock on reissue of 2011 debut album from Göthenburg-based trio, Hills
Though not the wake-up call for dog owners that you'd might expect, 'Master Sleeps' tempts one to go walkies through the inner mind. With psychedelic ramshackle sonic reverbs and what not on board, the hammering wall of sound blends very well with the freaked out drones on here. (You may even like this when you're not on pills - can't tell, I don't even take aspirin.) Crumbling church organ sounds appear in the background, but these Göthenburg-based Swedes have created a brew very much of their own. Repetitive and monotonous, and this is their native debut album, 'Master Sleeps' grabs you by the ears in fact. Their slow, dark twang and gothic sounds move forwards in spectrum, and ultimately lead to a thunderous exercise of proportions, which provide gentle and persisting pounding on the eardrum. Monumental jingle 'n jangle is to be had here. Only a three-piece, Hills have fabricated an album of vigorous venom and dimension. A baffling bonanza.
