intro
Fantastic psychedelic-influenced new EP from former Revolver front man Mat Flint's latest band, Deep Cut
This limited and numbered EP is from ex-Revolver guy Mat Flint’s current band Deep Cut’s just released second album, ‘Commodity’. ‘Something’s Got To Give’ opens with a strong, single guitar before the electricity of the full band kick right in. It has a swaggering psychedelic Stones sound, while Emma Bailey’s vocal sounds like Tracy Tracy from the Primitives at her best. ‘Magazine (Electric Loop Orchestra Remix’) has a dub sound against which Emma’s crisp vocals work well. ‘Headfall’ is an old Revolver track given a perfect reworking, and sounds very loud and aggressive. ‘Magazine’ is given another remix by Real Bravadons, which is Mat and his brother. It is trippy and full of big beats, sounding like a doomy Portishead, and works very well for me. A fantastic EP.

Excellent and long-awaited third album from Deep Cut, the project of Revolver and death in Vegas' Mat Flint, which combines a shoegazing sound with a variety of contemporary influences |
