intro
Cliche-driven rock from new American band which "takes its cue from the MC5 but ...contains nothing even remotely comparable to the Detroit band"
'Soundtrack to a Headrush' is full of loud guitars and even louder screaming. The opening statement of: "Listen up, motherf**ers" takes its cue from the MC5 but 'Soundtrack to a Headrush' contains nothing even remotely comparable to the Detroit band. Instead it's full of dull, charm-free, tried and tested rawk and is instantly forgettable. Singer Matt Breen seems to come from the school of thought that thinks if the vocalist screams and hollers really loudly then, hey, he must really mean it, man. Like, it really comes from the heart. Likewise, the drums and guitars are turned up to a Spinal Tap 11 on the amps. In essence 'Soundtrakc to a Headrush' is merely a dumb soundtrack to a bunch of dumb jocks drinking too much beer at the weekend and then trying to pick a fight with the school nerd. Ultimately, it's all rather pathetic.
