intro
Unremarkable near trip hop from British indie act 69 Corp, which comes across as "all a bit too 90's"
The previous 69 Corp release was a 12 inch single with the god-like Howie B. Despite that promising link up that record was distinguished more by its packaging than its brilliance. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really tear the house down. Unfortunately the same can really be said of ‘Demonseed’. It's not bad, but it is equally nothing outstanding. Almost trip-hop, with slightly mangled, slightly spaced-out vocals over the top. It’s all a bit too 90's and it doesn’t have the freshness that made this kind of thing interesting back then. The instrumental B-side ‘Dubseed’ is much better. After listening to the A-side this comes on like – a far more sinister creep over the same ground. Like even the familiar and mundane can seem new and terrifying at three in the morning in the dark, ‘Dubseed’ pushes this into slightly more interesting territory. Its nothing to get hugely excited about but let’s see what the 69 Corp can do with an album
