Raw and gritty high energy punk on debut album from Rhode Island based punks, the Midnight Creeps
What can I say about the Midnight Creeps' debut album, 'Doomed from the Get Go' ? This is a really high energy punk album. The band come from Providence, Rhode Island and I am not really surprised as the influence of the Stooges and the New York Dolls are here as well as numerous other bands from the ame era from the Western United States, while the singer Jenny Hurricane has a very strong powerful voice very much like Wendy O' Williams of the early 80's New York City punk band, the Plasmatics. The album contains tracks like 'The Ballad of G.G.', dedicated to notorious hardcore punk, G.G. Allin, and 'I'm a C**t', both of which have the subtlety of being hit in the face with a cricket bat. In fact most of the songs on the album are like this ! There is also 'Ant Trash Joe' which refers to junkies, incest and rape. This is lyrically very gritty hard stuff, but comes very highly recommended.

Rhode Island punks the Midnight Creeps take their inspiration from many of the best New York and Detroit bands of the 70's. New writer Dave Toynton finds them on a short tour of Britain a credit to the infleunces they so very much admire |
