intro
Classic indie pop on second single from already highly collectable Las Vegas-based group, the Killers
'Somebody Told Me' is the second single from Las Vegas' finest band, who returned home to the States after touring Britain just as this charted over here. 'Somebody Told Me' is a classic piece of indie pop. It kicks off with some great 80's style synth sounds and guitars that rock big time. This grabs you by the balls and will make you want to dance around anywhere where you are in or inhabit. It dramatically sucks you in. It has a great chorus line in "somebody told me you once had a girlfriend who looked like a boyfriend" and some of the best "woo hoo" style backing vocals since the Stones in the 60's. This is without doubt one of the best songs of the year so far. The B sides are 'The Ballad of Michael Valentine' and "Under the Gun' which both have a storytelling element. 'The Ballad of Michael Valentine' is slow and moody, while' 'Under the Gun' bumps along very nicely The 7 inch comes in lovely pink vinyl with a gatefold sleeve and a pull out poster. Great stuff ! Their debut album is due in June, while their first single, 'Mr Brightside', which was reviewed here last November, now changes hands for around £40 a copy. You know where you read about them first.
