Eclectic and excellent second album from Norwich-based indie rock band, Sennen
Review
'Age of Denial' is the second album from Norwich-based indie band Sennen. They have made a name for themselves by constantly being on the road and working hard at their craft, and it has paid off as this is an excellent album.
It opens with the title track, 'Age of Denial', which comes over like a fuzzed up Black Rebel Motorcycle Club with its big slice of attitude. It is a fine way to kick off an album.
'With You' is bass heavy, has a great vibe and is an intelligent indie record. It has a driving force that pushes the music forever forward. It reminded me of hearing the Mighty Lemon Drops for the first time.
'A Little High' is a joyous number, indie-pop flavoured but much more chunky in feel, while its second half feels like a young Ride. 'Falling Down' has a slow vibe but becomes thicker in sound as it moves along.
'SOS' has a dark Jesus and Mary Chain-style vocal from vocalist Larry Holmes. It is eerie in sound, but also has grace and charm. 'Innocence' sounds like Sparks at its start and has a decent groove to carry it through.
'Red Horizon' is again chunky in sound, while the vocals are very laid back. 'Can't See the Light' is like a sleazy and dirty Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, big sounding and big music that rocks big time.
'Sleep Heavy Tonight'is a chill out track, slow and very calm and very peaceful'. 'Sennen's Day Out' is a short ambient number, while 'Broken Promise' is a slow time Ride-influenced track, which picks up pace as it moves along. 'Out of Our Depth' is a slow core outro, which ends this eclectic and excellent album in splendid style.
