Sennen - Destroy Us

Label: Hungry Audio
Format: CD
Fine five track new EP from Norwich-based post-rockers, Sennen

Review

'Destroy Us' is the new EP from Norwich's Sennen which sees them carry on in superb fashion from their two previous albums, 'Widows'(2007) and 'Where the Lights Get in' (2008). It opens with 'In', which is a pleasant short instrumental of beats on keyboards, strings and a lush violin. 'Destroy Us' has a forward-paced groove that starts by sounding somewhat laidback, but which becomes much more intense as it moves on. 'Bizarre Love Triangle' is a guitar version of the New Order track, which sounds like the Chameleons if anyone at all, and not at all like the original. 'The Distance from A-B' is a slow-paced guitar number perfectly paced out instrumental. 'Figurine' is again gently-paced and features vocals that sort of sound like where Slowdive might of gone if they hadn't reformed as Mojave 3. 'Out' ends the EP. It is much more Nu-gaze and, full of jangling guitars, sounds a lot like Ride. A fine EP produced by Pat Collier whom has worked with several of the greats including he Smiths.
