Editors - Blood

Label: Select Label
Format: CDS
Latest single from the Editors'bestselling album The Back Room', which has been issued for the second time

Review

'Blood' was originally the Editors' third single, and now is also their seventh from 'The Back Room'. It is their third single after 'Munich' and 'Bullets' to be issued twice. I shouldn't have to tell you what it sounds like by now, but, if you have been on Mars, it is riff heavy and classic. The new B sides on the CDS release are a cover of REM's 1989 song 'Orange Crush' which, while faster than the original, works very well, and a Paul Oakenfield remix of 'The Back Room' album track 'Camera' which is, as you would expect, is housey and clubby , but also a lot stronger than any previous remixes of the band's songs. A 10" vinyl version, which was deleted on the day of its release, includes a remix of 'Camera' by Jason Pierce of Spiritualized which sounds like a long intro and goes nowhere special, and a live acoustic cover of the Talking Heads' 'Road to Nowhere' which is elegantly played. It may be time for new material, but 'Blood' still sounds pretty perfect to my ears. .
