Latest single from the Editors' bestselling debut album 'The Back Room'
Review
'All Sparks' is yet another single release from the Editors' bestselling debut album 'The Back Room'. It is the stand out track from that record with its killer riffs and edgy bass lines, and is a true modern day classic of a song.
'The Diplomat', the first B side of the CDS, is a new song, which starts off with a church like organ, a groove on the bass and a vocal from Tom Smith that rests on the top. When the guitars finally kick in, it recalls classic Echo and the Bunnymen, while Smith's vocal is very Ian Curtis.
'From the Outside' is eerie. It has a similar riff to 'All Sparks', but as if it is being played on downers. It is dark and moody and recollects the Cure during their 'Faith' era.
'All Sparks(Cicado mix', the last of the B sides, is big and clubby turning an automatic indie classic into a dance piece. Adding a groove and a new keyboard solo, but reducing the riff, the vocal is sort of lost in a muddle. It all works well though in a housey sort of fashion.
Album track 'Someone Says' makes an acoustic appearance on the black vinyl 7 inch b side, and, beautiful in sound, recollects a melodic the Smiths.
