Alex Dingley - Cats Eyes

Label: Too Pure
Format: 7"
Run-of-the-mill indie pop, rescued by its catchy B-side, on vinyl only single from Welsh singer-songwriter, Alex Dingley

Review

Alex Dingley has had a stop start musical career thus far with a debut 8-track LP, 'I Lost My Honey' being released as far back as 2007, but amidst inter-band difficulties and personal tragedies 2010's follow up, 'Built in the Ruins of a Monday Morning' was barely able to breathe. As such there's an element of relief with the release of 'Cats Eyes' as the final instalment of Too Pure's 2012 Singles Club. Sadly, the A-side lacks that certain something necessary to lift it above the run-of-the-mill indie fodder that is currently doing the rounds. The B-side, 'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' makes up for the A-side with the kind of catchiness that made some of The Eels finer moments instant pop delights. It's got hand claps too. As such it is certainly worth keeping an eye out for this lot.
