Nige Nudds watches and photographs an impressive set from rising blues rock band When Rivers Meet to promote their new third album, ‘Addicted to You;'.
Article
I first encountered When Rivers Meet as a duo at a village music event called the F19 Festival, which was held at Feltwell St Mary’s Church six years ago. Grace Bond performed as the vocalist and electric mandolin player, while Aaron Bond played his Gibson guitar and used a kick drum. Their sound is blues rock, and they have since gained a significant following, while managing and producing their records fully independently. A couple of weeks ago, they achieved the fourth position on the UK Official Records Chart.
Tonight at The Waterfront they have transformed into a six-piece, and this includes a couple of extra guitarists, a drummer and keyboards player. The sound quality has improved significantly over the past six years, and the band has developed into a highly skilled rock group.
They start off with their latest single ‘Addicted to You’ from their new album of the same name. Grace’s powerful vocals provide a strong foundation for the band's blues-rock sound, while Aaron impresses with his guitar skills, including slide techniques.
The band perform tracks from ‘Addicted to You and also highlights from their 3 other albums and EP’s. These songs include the wonderful ‘Kissing the Sky’ and a raunchy version of ‘Did I Break The Law’ amongst many other timeless tunes. Throughout the show the duo engage and have a strong connection with the audience just like one big family in this intimate venue.
I highly recommend you take the opportunity to see them when they next play the UK on on their 20 date tour this September and October
