Review
Crikey, Clark uses vocals! There is no pop music all of a sudden, but there's an amount of refinement under the surface. Expectations were very high after the excellent 'Turning Dragon' and 'Body Riddle', but, alas, they do not get fulfilled on 'Totems Flare'. A work of a master rather than a masterpiece.
'Luxman Furs' is the standout track amidst a set of sidesteps. There is nothing wrong in a mish mash of styles but 'Totems Flare' lacks that 'fingerspitzengefühl' on about half of the tracks. 'Future Daniel' shows Clark's craftmanship again and 'Absence' offers pastoral sounds that well suit the close of this mixed album.
