Fast and furious dance music on the most accessible album to date from American-based electronic musician Clark

Enter the dragon and drop the pretence with Clark. 'Turning Dragon' is easily Clark's most accessible offering yet. The result is instant here but repeated listens bring pure joy too. In an orderly manner the belters keep on coming as the production proves both to be solid as well as imaginative. With great ease Clark toys around with smooth glitches while the uptempo beats lash out relentlessly. 'Turning Dragon' owes much to industrial house music ànd to white funk. It's very much an album you would associate with a thunderstorm. Clark's subtle tricks though combine the steady electronic music, that German DJ artists are best known for, and the wandering style of an Englishman. At the very same time this is motorway music par excellence and must be frustrating to listen to when stuck in a jam. The track 'Ache of The North' is a fine illustration of such a feeling. That is followed by 'Mercy Sines' which in fact is a ruthless excursion into grinding house music. During the course of the album, Clark's methods become more brutal with their jolly yet distorted beats, as if they are in a controlled psychosis. 'Turning Dragon' is in-your-face dance music at its best. Lean and mean and fast and furious, it pushes aside much dance music as being mere rhythmic noodlings.
