Ladybug Transistor - Always on the Telephone

Label: Fortuna POP!
Format: CDS
Excellent latest single from Brooklyn-based indiepop outfit the Ladybug Transistor

Review

'Always on the Telephone', which is taken from from the Brooklyn based outfit the Ladybug Transistor's sixth album, 'Can't Wait Another Day', is a real grower. Gary Olson's vocal is crystal in sound, while surf guitar comes from the Clientele's Alasdair Maclean. Backing vocals lift the track beautifully, and there is a jazz sax solo from Roy Nathansen who played with Deborah Harry's one time side project the Jazz Passengers. The song has the grace of a Richard Hawley/Lee Hazelwood appeal, while the second half of the song is totally instrumental with a touch of psych added for extra flavour. Fantastic !
