Ladybug Transistor - Can't Wait Another Day

Label: Fortuna POP!
Format: CD
Effective combination of country and 60's sunshine pop on sixth album from the Ladybug Transistor, which proves to be their best record in years

Review

Since the release of their fantastic 'The Albemarle Sound' album back in 1999, Gary Olson and his band mates haven’t really been able to make an equally brilliant album. But with that said, the two previous albums have both been very good, with the last, self-titled one, being very close to their friends in the Essex Green (which means that the music on it was closer to country than to 60's sunshine pop), which is not a bad thing at all, but I want the Ladybug Transistor to sound like… the Ladybug Transistor. On their new, sixth album, we get music from both worlds. The album starts off with 'Always on the Telephone', which sounds just like the aforementioned The Essex Green, but it doesn't take long before we get a glimpse of the good old Ladybugs, and quite soon I’m convinced that this is the best record they have made in eight years, a record that sadly includes the last beats from drummer San Fadyl, who passed away this spring.
