Sheffield council must be putting something in the water. Current media darlings the Arctic Monkeys are riding high just about everywhere and Richard Hawley is also garnering rave reviews with his lush, orchestrated torch songs that hark back to the 1950's. 'Coles Corner', the title track from last year´s warmly welcomed album (Hawley´s third), has a rich, Andy Williams-influenced croon. It's a tune to curl-up to on cold wintry nights with a blanket on top, whilst sipping a warming mug of cocoa. It's a song that you can sink into and luxuriate in its glow. Expect it to appear on some gas or electricity advert very soon.
