Excellent second single from the much acclaimed Magic Numbers' debut album
Review
'Love Me Like You' is the second single from the Magic Numbers' self-titled debut album which has stayed at the top of the charts for several weeks.
'Love Me Like You' has a fast groove to it, with a driving beat, an edgy bass line from Romeo Stodart's sister, Michelle, and some great woah, woahs that manage not to sound dated at all. The chorus is uplifting, and like several Magic Numbers tracks,it tells a different tale in its second half before returning to the original song. Cool stuff indeed !
'Drunk on Your Words' is much slower than other tracks by the band. It is sung in a calming manner, and has the best harmonies, this side of the Beach Boys. It recalls Tompaulin a little too.
'Delphina's Song' is lovely and sounds like the sort of song Nick Drake might have done if he had fronted Mojave 3, but adds some sunshine. It is also the B side of the 7 inch picture disc.
'Travelling Souls'has a weird demo type feel, and sounds like something emitting from the psychedelic party in the flat next to you. It is very strange but intriguing, something like an experimental John and Yoko.
