Cure - The End Of The World

Label: Geffen
Format: CDS
Disappointing new single from the Cure, which is saved by its B sides

Review

I have to say that in all my years of listening to the Cure that 'The End of the World' is for me their weakest single to date, but having said that, once you play it a few times, you do get used to it and it is quite catchy. The other two tracks are not previously unreleased as it has been stated elsewhere. They are in fact the two extra tracks that only appear on the double vinyl LP version of the album. 'This Morning' checks in at 7 minutes 16 seconds long and is wonderful. It is far too good to be a mere B side. It is very dark and gloomy. It is very pure Cure in essence. It sounds like the material that the band were doing around 1989 at the time of their 'Disintegration' album. It is very soul searching and warming to the heart to know Robert is still looking for inner happiness. 'Fake' which also graces the 7 inch picture disc version of'The End of the World' , is perky, upfront and commercial dark wave.

Track Listing:-

1 The End Of The World
2 This Morning
3 Fake
