Superior, slow-paced guitar music on mini debut album from new three piece, Clayhll, whose membes have been in Red Snapper, Beth Orton's regular band and Sunhouse
Review
'Cuban Green' lasts a mere 26 minutes and is six songs long.
Clayhill are a three piece of mature songwriters who between them have been in Red Snapper, Beth Orton's regular band and Sunhouse.
Singer Gavin Clark's vocal style is reminiscent of that of Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Ted Barnes' guitar lines are in the best traditions of folk, while Ali's double bass playing is elegant and classy. The songs are largely based around Ted's guitar and Ali's beautiful deep bass, but at times trumpets and violins that would not be out of place on a Tindersticks or a Bjork record are also thrown in.
This CD will change how you feel about modern music. It's better and easily superior to most things listed indie. It would hard to put into a record shop under a type of music, and is a proud, wonderful, graceful little number. It puts back your faith in music again.
