The Girl With the Replaceable Head - Ride My Star

Label: Bus Stop
Format: CDS
Enjoyably 'mellow" acoustic pop on debut EP by new girl singer from Newcastle upon Tyne

Review

TGWTRH is in fact a girl who hails from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England.  The title track of her debut single is a very nice mellow, almost mopey pop song that had me thinking of a more upbeat and less produced Mazzy Star.  The vocals have a bit of a country twang that works perfectly with the acoustic guitar strumming along in the background and the electric guitar sliding over them.  Throw in a bit of tambourine and some keyboard tones to round it all out and you're set (Well, actually cut back on the reverb on the vocals a bit and then you'd really be set). The other two songs on this single, follow in a similar vein, so it's actually a single with three good songs - I guess that can happen with a debut release.  This girl looks like someone to watch because I think with somewhat better production her songs could really shine in a warm, dim, candle like way.

Track Listing:-

1 Ride My Star
2 Bobby's on Fire
3 The Sun Will Let You Down
