Feedback-frenzied, but 60's influenced very limited vinyl only single from Danish duo the Raveonettes
Review
This is the first single from Danish duo the Raveonettes new album, 'Lust, Lust, Lust' and, released on very limited 7 inch vinyl, has come out a week after it.
'Dead Sound' starts off in a frenzy of feedback which eventually slows down. It has a cool early 60's retro feel, but the distortion reminds you that this is the Raveonettes in the year 2007. Sune Rose Wagner's guitar solo sounds like the Shadows jamming with the Velvet Underground and the whole track is near perfect.
The single's B side, 'Honey, I Never Had You', is an exclusive which is sung as a duet between Sune and Sharin Foo in true Everly Brothers fashion, who have been a big influence on Sune's writing style. It is very 50's in sound and, full of jangly guitarwork, is a sad tale that is heartwarming at the same time, and absolutely lovely.
