Powerful download only first single from her new album,'Volta', for the eccentric, but loveable Bjork
Review
Bjork returns with a proper new single, a proper new album and, as I write this, she is playing a festival in California, topping the bill over Interpol and the reunited Jesus and Mary Chain.
‘Earth Intruders’ is the first single from ‘Volta’, which is her sixth studio album post the Sugarcubes, who reformed for a one off gig in their home country of Iceland last year.
‘Earth Intruders’ starts off with tribal drums beats, provided by the African collective Konono No1, before Bjork adds some catchy vocals in her typically eccentric, but loveable style. Along with the African drums beats there is also a big Asian flavour to this song in its rhythms.
This is a strong song for Bjork to make a comeback with after taking time out to deliver a new child, and to follow from her last album ‘Drawing Restraint 9’, which was a soundtrack for an unreleased film, and only featured three vocal tracks by her on it.
‘Earth Intruders’ automatically makes you want to get up and dance wildly to it.
