Enjoyable classic rock covers on remarkable 153rd album from 91-year old country veternn Willie Nelsons
Review
Following his cameo as a droll DJ on Beyonce's ‘Cowboy Carter’, Texan grandee Willie Nelson rolls back the years on his latest album.....which is his 153rd!!!
The new record sees Willie tackle songs from the classic rock canon, giving them the air of standards. Now 91, Willie brings a nice, easy-going spirit to Jeff Beck's ‘Lost Cause’. He also reminds us of his own legacy as the godfather of outlaw country music on Keith Richards' ‘Robbed Blin.”.
‘ Last Leaf is co-written with Tom Waits and it sees Willie melodiously singing, “I'vebeen here since Eisenhower, and I've outlived even he”. ‘Last Leaf On The Tree’ is a remarkable record from Willie - and there's very little sign that he's 91 years old! - Long may he continue!
