Brilliantly deranged psycho twang on vinyl only release from Los Angeles-based act Oog Bogo
Review
Young, loud and snappy garage punk plus cassette quality new wave comes riddled with excellent twists and turns from the guy who once was in the Meatbodies. This is another adventurous release on God? Records, the offshoot record label of Drag City which is run by Ty Segall.
Reminding me, a personal memory of course, of the once mighty Yeah Yeah Noh, Oog Bogo could also fit Bogshed's shoes just the same, albeit Kevin Boog isn't from Britain and is from Los Angeles. 'Broken Book' and 'Hot Rock' on the A-Side set the mood in superb retro 1980’s new wave style. A hint of A Certain Ratio on the B-Side follows next. It makes one wonder what Kevin Boog's parents listened to during his conception. The way the roll on roll off punk noises go on and off appears to stick in Boog's DNA.
This four-track EP is truly a baffling little collection
