Drift - Symbiosis

Label: Tapete Records
Format: CD
Retro new wave industrial music on debut album from East London act Drift, the project of London based artist Nathalie Bruno

Review

Nathalie Bruno recorded the ten tracks on 'Symbiosis' in her East London studio, yet her sense of purpose had probably already turned around at the doorstep of the studio. Bruno's dreamscapes seem rather self-indulgent. 'In Orbit' - track #4 - is the first track to abandon the predictable grid of East London's Muzak Street Map and will grab the listener's attention. The next tracks will not manically stir up your latte, 'Visualize The Invisible' is, however, a darn fine song with plenty of adventurism in its music. 'Symbiosis' is a quaint collection of bland retro synth pop with more than a couple of welcoming original sidesteps. Bedazzled and simultaneously sent asleep during the course of 'Symbiosis', Drift may have caught me. 'Symbiosis' is only a modest effort. Like many debut records are..,

Noumena (2005)
Subtle debut album from the Drift, whose music, despite drawing comparisions with Tortoise, has more in common with jazz great Miles Davis
