Andrew Twambley photographs Newcastle rock act the Wildhearts at the Ritz in Manchester.
With several lengthy hiatus along the way, The Wildhearts are a unique British institution, having brought their blend of hard rock and melodic pop to live audiences for over thirty years since first forming in Newcastle in 1989.
They have been through numerous line-ups, with their frontman, vocalist and guitarist Ginger Wildheart (born David Walls) being their only permanent member.
2019 was a busy year for the Wildhearts. They reformed in their classic 1993 line-up, which also consists of CJ (guitar), Danny McCormack (bass) and Rich Battersby (drums), and recorded and released both their tenth album, ‘Renaissance Men’, and also a mini album ,‘Diagnosis’.
In late January and early February, they played a seven date tour of the UK. These photos were taken on that tour by Andrew Twambley at a gig at the Manchester Ritz on January 31st.
