The line-up has now been announced for Fairport Convention's 2020 Cropredy Convention – the three day open air event held on farmland near the Oxfordshire village of Cropredy. Now in its 41st year, the festival will run from Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th August.
There will be a 50th anniversary celebration of 'Full House', Fairport's acclaimed 1970 album and, as always, Fairport will open and close the event.
Guest artists in 2020 will include Clannad from Ireland; virtuoso guitarist Richard Thompson; the Trevor Horn Band – featuring Trevor who is one of the UK's top record producers having worked with Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, Grace Jones, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the Pet Shop Boys, Seal and so many more; Steve Hackett – one of the UK's most accomplished guitarists; BAFTA nominee Richard Digance; Australia's singer-songwriter Emily Barker; the London-based bluegrass band Thumping Tommys; 2019 BBC Young Folk Award winner Maddie Morris; the folkrock group Home Service; Martyn Joseph; the Sharon Shannon Quartet and, from New York, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams.
Fairport's bassist Dave Pegg commented, “We are really pleased with 2020's line-up. It consolidates Cropredy's core appeal, celebrates Fairport's rich heritage and also introduces a wide, diverse range of music and some exciting new talent. As ever, it will be the highlight of our year!”
