Tellavision - Add Land

Label: Bureau B
Format: CD
Flawed and dull electronica sung in English from German experimental outfit Tellavision

Review

A painful experience and listen, to put it mildly. Tellavision, eager to act clever, defy their native German language by singing in English and stumble over one clumsy line to the next. "Auf deutsch, dies könnte Sinn machen." Alas, Tellavision extrapolate each and every cliché available and by even greater miracle achieve less from this. Worn out beats combine with words that ought to have been mumbled in German; "auf deutsch heißt das richtig, aber dann auch richtig langweilig". In plain English, 'Add Land' must be one of the most genuinely boring albums I've heard in recent times. It is an album which one hopes that it might preferably come to an immediate close. Alas it does not. Instead this album sounded so intriguingly awful that I forced myself to listen a second time to it. It, however, remained stuck in mediocrity and 1990s stylistics with a tired triphop style and lazy Bjørk-styled noodlings. The second listen again was a complete waste of time. At Bureau B someone must have been sleeping over the desk before deciding to release 'Add Land'. It is worth one's attention, if only because of its innoxious nature.
