Review

Twenty-five years or so from today, the city of London gave birth to this busy dance style called 'jungle' ,and the Emotif label, and in its previous incarnations as Sounds Of The Underground and more recently Botchit & Scarper, heralded many jiggy breakbeat pirate riddims of the era. No wonder, therefore, two fabulous slabs from the aforementioned era resurface in one neat package. This EP offers a couple of yesteryear's mightiest tunes. Primo Don Ray Keith is on first, delivering powerfully 'I am Who I am Because Of You'. From the Bristol Area, D-Region & Code keep up the buzz on 'Starscream'. Very much in line with the XFM celebration 12 inch featuring classic Skream and Benga tunes, we step into the dark world of drum & bass and pirate radio station history. On the flip, on 'So Long', the FireTeam trespasses new grounds. The weakest track though of the four, 'So Long' leads into bubbling magnificence of the closing 'Out There' by Toxin & SLB.
