Inutili - Unforgettable, Lost and Unreleased

Label: Aagoo Records
Format: CD
Relentless and chaotic yet adventurous collection of earlier recordings from Italian art punk/blues band, Inutili

Review

It has somehow become one of my privileges these days to listen to adventureous music recorded in Italy, or by Italians. Inutili are the latest example. Outright art academy punkers, they perform with flair and firm beliefs an original and obstinate group of songs. Name it sloppy post-rock or acid blues, this is a hell of a set of tunes. Deep and heavy sonics build on the sense of mayhem. Relentless and rudimentary, this collection of older material (2012/13) consists of both brash punk and heavy doses of blues music. Thunder and lightning on 'The Monarch Must Die' - a thirteen minute masterpiece of splatter and psychedelia - leads to relaxed licks on 'Mechanical Lady', before this storm sets on the 21 minute 'My Girlfriend is a Zombie Slut'. A title only a single person can think of. Yet even that 21 minute track didn't put me off. Intentionally over the top.
