Scott and Charlene's Wedding - Karen/1 and 2

Label: Fire Records
Format: CDS
Excellent download-only Christmas single from lo-fi Australian garage rock act, Scott and Charlene’s Wedding

Review

This download only Christmas single was recorded during Australian garage rock group Scott and Charlene’s Wedding’s European summer tour in the offices of Fire Records in London. ‘Karen ‘is a Robert Forster song recorded originally fellow Australian band, the Go-bBetweens. While the artwork is a spoof of the original sleeve. Scott and Charlene's Wedding is raw and rough. A slow vocal from Craig Dermody over loud guitar starts off sounding an early R.E.M. garage rehearsal, before speeding right on up and heading towards wild Patti Smith territory. ‘1&2’ is a new song which sounds like a demo of ‘Do it Clean by Echo &The Bunnymen played at CBGB's in 1977. An excellent single.

Scott and Charlene's Wedding - Shipping Forecast, Liverpool, 7/8/2013
Richard Lewis is riveted by Australian-formed but New York-based group Scott and Charlene's Wedding's shambolic but yet surprisingly tight brand of alternative rock at a show on their first UK tour at the Shipping Forecast in Liverpool
