September Girls - Heartbeats

Label: Fortuna POP!
Format: 7"
Likeable noise pop on vinyl only debut single from Dublin-based female five piece, September Girls

Review

September Girls are a five-piece female band hailing from Dublin. Having recently completed a tour with fellow all female band PINS, they now release their first single on the Fortuna POP! label; ‘Heartbeats’ is a brooding track with lyrics telling tales of unrequited love and heartbreak. September Girls fall into the noise-pop category with their fuzzy guitars and reverb vocals. On ‘Heartbeats’ it’s fairly difficult to hear the singing underneath the heavy instrumental, not that this is a bad thing as it actually creates an more intricate sound. The B-side ‘Wasted’ has a slightly more shoegazing feel, and feels like it’s building to a crescendo that never arrives. Both songs offer a promising insight to the forthcoming debut album which is due in January.
