Gripping combination of funk, ska, hip-hop and Afro beats on latest single fromseven piece Brighton-based band, King Porter Stomp
Review
King Porter Stomp are a seven piece Brighton-based band of musicians mashing up their own brand of funk, ska, hip-hop, Afro beats and toasting from MC Jonezy. As well as playing festivals across the UK and further afield they also like to ply their politically conscious trade by busking on the street where ever they find themselves when the mood strikes.
MC Jonezy is calm and collected and this gives his world weary words more power than if he was to shout angrily. The horns and heavy bass compliment rather than fight with the vocals and lift 'Let It All Out' up. It is melodic and gripping and makes me want to play it over and over to pick out more and more of the lyrics. The toasting is smooth not spikey, and this is a real grower.
