City Reign - Out in the Cold

Label: City Reign
Format: CDS
Atmospheric second single from Manchester-based indie act City Reign, which draws comparisons with the still missed Little Man Tate

Review

Having already made some in roads with the excellent Steve Lamacq endorsed debut single 'Making Plans', Manchester-based City Reign deliver a fine follow up in the shape of 'Out in the Cold'. Even though the songwriting force of Chris Bull and Mike Grice have only been residents of the North for a few years, they have quickly got a handle on the local musical heritage with the band's sound nodding approvingly to the wonderful atmospheric sound of Puressence. While vocally and lyrically there are similarities to Sheffield's sadly missed Little Man Tate, City Reign are certainly a band with enough of that 'certain something' to be confident of becoming more than just another notch and Manchester's musical bedpost. Keep tabs on this lot.
