Memorable and glorious Americana on melancholic debut album from Scottish duo, the Savings and Loan
Review
Balladeering in an absurdly appealing way, this Scottish duo consists of Martin Donnelly, whose clear, slightly plaintive, drink-ridden and highly emotive voice will bring fame and fortune, and Andrew Bush who plays several instruments.
The Savings and Loan perform outright 'Americana'. It´s their claim that they have recorded dozens of songs, but this debut album is the first proof of this. 'Today I Need Light' notwithstandingly offers a heap of intriguing little wonders; mysterious songs about misery.
Their debut is a matured album of glorious folkpop music. Memorable, touching and calm.
