Twin Sister - Vampires with Dreaming Kids/Color Your Life

Label: Double Six Records
Format: CD
Dreamy indie pop on combined re-release of first two EPs by Long Island-based band, Twin Sister

Review

Color Twin Sister orange, turquoise and apparently American. Both these EPs have been released before, but 'Vampires with Dreaming Kids' has never been physically and the more recent 'Color Your Life' not outside America. Now London's Double Six Records has put together these tracks together and collectively they build up a lot of expectations for their eventual debut album. Twin Sister's first 'Vampires With Dreaming Kids' EP starts off sounding like an English mid-1990's pop-combo guided by angelic aspirations. 'Ginger', which comes next, blends Spector's Wall Of Sound and Highland echoes of jingly-jangly guitar chords together. Twin Sister's female vocalist Andrea almost sounds as German as Nico did. Her timbre is not far off either. On 'Color Your Life' EP Twin Sister sound as if they have joined the realms of Sweden's Labrador label. The term 'northern soul' was coined ages ago; 'nordic soul' never has been. Twin Sister do deliver a different approach to warm indie-pop, yet stay quite shy whilst at it. Rather than polish up two items, Double Six Records did the wise thing. Check these two EPs to see if Twin Sister's dreamy pop tunes raise an appetite. An album will probably follow before Summer 2011.
