Milk Milk White Teeth - Ingrid Won't Smile

Label: Too Pure
Format: 7"
Summery indie pop on vinyl only debut single from Leeds-based eight piece Milk Milk White Teeth, the latest in the Too Pure's singles club series

Review

Leeds-based eight piece Milk White White Teeth are the next young band to have the opportunity to wow the paying public thanks to Too Pure’s (so far) immaculately tasteful singles club. The Teeth are not letting the standards slip by any means. In fact it would be safe to say that 'Ingrid Won’t Smile' is the best 7” yet, although the lack of a warning sticker on the front announcing “Summer Contained Within” is a bit of a let down. From the band's name I was expecting an angular math rock workout not this heavenly warm indie pop that trickled out of the speakers. Ingrid Won’t Smile has some lovely electronic touches underscoring the surfy guitars and vintage keyboards. Think Vampire Weekend without the African influence fronted by Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip and you’ll have a hint of where these guys and gals are at. Flipside 'Dante’s Danceteria' is a little more serious in tone, but fills me with hope that if a band is willing to throw away a chorus that good on a b side then the album is bound to be fantastic.
