Unusual, but sizzling and catchy blues pop on debut studio album from Digital leather, the project of Arizonian musician Shawn Foree
Review
Hot on the heels of Beaten Awake's album follows another Fat Possum release which again is unusually offbeat. The sound on Digital Leather's 'Warm Brother' is dominated by an archaic synthesizer behind which there is a buzzing weirdo pop sound and this contra-action works well. There may be no swampy Fat Possum rock 'n' roll mayhem on this, but the bolt throwing songs on 'Warm Brother' are a real blast. Be it twisted 1960's beat music or psychedelia, the fun remains the same.
Digital Leather treads unrecognised territory and explore further new frontiers. 'Warm Brother' shouldn't at all be mistaken for the sleazy effort it may appear to bear on the strength of the sizzling streak of tracks. 'Warm Brother' album captures all the best bits of urban psychotic blues music that Digital Leather, without realizing it, have seemed to venture.
Upon repeated listenings, 'Warm Brother' prove that they shelter a wealth of surprises. Wild excursions like 'Not Now' sit well alongside the straightforward pop music of 'Photo Lie'. Their delta blues type of catchy pop tunes pushes Digital Leather far above other acts in a simlar vein.
