Chemists - A Love Like No One Else

Label: Distiller Records
Format: CDS
Off-kilterindie dance rock on latest single from Bristol-based group the Chemists

Review

Johnny Benn's vocals are plaintive, soaring over a slightly strange but not unpleasant combination of jingly indie guitars and highly synthesised dance rock with some bouncy bass thrown in for good measure. The Chemists list the Police amongst their musical influences and this is apparent on 'A Love Like No One Else' both in their lyrics and slightly raspy vocal delivery. An ode to a girl "who talks like no one else and walks around my head" puts me in mind of Sting's plea to Roxanne. The single also features the track 'Sooner or Later' (as well as 2 remixes of the title track), which is a bouncy, infectious song with an upbeat sound that is deliciously at odds with its dark, frustrated lyrics.

Track Listing:-

1 A Love Like No-One Else (edit)
2 Sooner Or Later
3 A Love Like No-one Else - Rhysmix Vs The Chemists (Alternative Mix)
4 A Love Like No-one Else - Rhysmix Vs The Chemists (Full Vox Mix)
