Industrial act Nine Inch Nails was formed in Cleveland in Ohio by Trent Reznor in 1988 , and has since recorded eight albums, 'Pretty Hate Machine' (1989), 'Broken' (1992), 'The Downward Spiral' (1994), 'Fragile' (1999), 'With Teeth' (2005), 'Year Zero'(2007), 'Ghosts I-IV' (1988) and 'The Slip' (1988). As its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails, usually selecting musicians to tour with him after he has completed recordings. Although Nine Inch Nails is a massively popular recording and live act, Reznor announced on his website in February "I've been thinking for some time now it's time to make NIN disappear for a while". He has since clarified this by saying in an interview that he is "not done making music as Nine Inch Nails, but that he is done touring for the foreseeable future." While Nine Inch Nails still have some final shows to play on their own in America, their last show in Britain was with Jane's Addiction at the 02 Arena in London. These photographs of that farewell date were taken by photographer Matt Williams. While unfortunately photographed as a result of a security mistake in the arena rather than in the photographer's pit, they capture some of the live impact and power of Nine Inch Nails.
